Clinical Supervision

“Tell me, and I forget. Teach me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I learn.”
– Benjamin Franklin

You’re on your way!

You’ve received your coveted and hard-won master’s degree and are embarking into the world of being a psychotherapist or clinical social worker.

The next and most crucial stage of the learning process starts now, as you seek supervision toward your license.

You need a seasoned mental health professional – one who has experience supervising new therapists, who has successfully worked with many types of clients, who knows about accessing community resources.

You also need the expertise of a therapist who has both awareness and experience with transference and countertransference.

That’s where I come in!

I’ve enjoyed a 23-year career in mental health counseling, working at a Boulder County community mental center for many of those years.

During that time, I worked directly with child, adolescent, and adult clients experiencing the full range of mental health diagnoses. Together, we tackled severe and persistent conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, PTSD, and others.

I’ve found the “person in the environment” focus of social work practice and systems theory crucial in helping clients both at the individual/psychological level and through the broader lens of the community. Understanding community resources can be a vital link in helping clients overcome their mental health challenges.

My Preferred Modalities

My clinical approach is esoteric, based on mindfulness-focused and body-based cognitive therapy for anxiety and depression.

I use cognitive processing therapy and somatic approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting for PTSD and other trauma-related disorders. I have had extensive post-graduate training in SFBT, CBT, CPT, MI, Brainspotting, and EMDR.
